‘1000 Lb Sisters’ Tammy Slaton Gives HUGE Life Update After Induced Coma
1000-Lb. Sisters star Tammy Slaton had quite a rollercoaster year. Over the course of Season 3, fans saw her drop to her lowest levels yet. But in the Season 3 finale, Tammy seemed to have an epiphany. She decided she really wanted to make a positive change in her life — but was it too late?
As the finale episode wrapped up, Tammy’s siblings let fans know that she had a very serious health scare immediately after going to rehab. But how is the TLC star doing now? Keep reading to find out.
Tammy Slaton struggled with depression on top of her food addiction during Season 3
Since 1000-Lb. Sisters first debuted, fans watched Tammy engage in unhealthy lifestyle behaviors. At first, it seemed like she really wanted to make better choices for her health. However, she quickly fell behind her sister Amy Halterman and her depression grew.
As Amy continued to improve her life, Tammy began to slip backward.
Fans really wanted to see Tammy succeed but grew frustrated at her journey. They felt as if her family and care team did everything in their power to get her on the right path, but she wasn’t willing to accept the help.
Dr. Smith said that Tammy would probably have to hit rock bottom before she chose to change her life. And that’s exactly what happened. But in the season finale, fans felt relieved to see Tammy wanted to put her partying ways aside and go back to rehab.
But after just one day in rehab, Tammy had to go back to the hospital. What happened?
“They’re just telling us that her lungs have given up, and like her body is shutting down,” Tammy’s sister Amanda choked up in the episode. “So at this point, you know, we’re facing making funeral arrangements for my little sister.”
Tammy’s siblings prepared for the worst as their sister fought for her life
The siblings revealed that the hospital put Tammy on a ventilator and put her in a medically induced coma. They prepared for the worst.
“They didn’t know if she was going to make it through the night. Or make it through the next hour,” her brother Chris added. “And we stayed four days or so up there. … then the last day we was there, she woke up. And she kept telling us she loved us and wanted to go home.”
The TLC star spent another three weeks in the hospital but returned to rehab once she was better. And her siblings couldn’t be more proud. Chris revealed Tammy lost about 115 lbs after just a month in rehab. That’s remarkable!
Fans are hopeful Tammy continues to recover and felt overjoyed when she shared a life update with fans. Recently Tammy posted a video on TikTok revealing that she no longer engaged in harmful activities. The TLC star revealed that for the past two months, she’s been on a much better track.
“I’m not an alcoholic anymore or a pothead I’ve been so over for over two mons now I don’t even Vape anymore,” she captioned the video.
Although Tammy Slaton has a long journey ahead of her, fans notice she looks a lot better. She seems to enjoy doing new makeup looks and her face does look a bit slimmer.
