‘1000-Lb Sisters’ Tammy Slaton Headed To Skin Removal Surgery
Tammy Slaton of 1000-lb Sisters fame recently received good news during her weight-loss journey. The reality TV star has been approved for skin-removal surgery. A figure who had supported Tammy throughout her journey, Dr. Eric Smith, also recently shared some kind words for her on social media.
1000-lb Sisters’ Tammy Slaton Shared She Was ‘Relieved’ After Hearing The Good News
On the TLC show, Tammy and her sister Amy have worked together to lose weight. Since 2020, fans have seen the two go through various ups and downs through their journey.
One figure viewers have also been introduced to through the show is Dr. Eric Smith of Georgetown Bariatrics and Advanced Surgical Services. Recently, Tammy was told she would soon reach an important milestone while visiting his office.
Smith commended Tammy for her progress losing weight on the show. He then shared, “You’ve shown me that you can focus on your nutrition, and because of that, I’m giving you the green light to go back to Pittsburgh and get you scheduled to have your skin removed.”
Smith also added he already talked with her surgeon over the procedure. Noting the surgeon’s “on the same page as me,” Smith added, “He’s comfortable proceeding with your skin removal surgery, so let’s get it done.”
Admitting to Smith she felt “relieved,” Tammy also touched on the moment in the confessional. She noted, “‘You’re approved.’ What? You gave me all that big spiel about not having enough protein, but yet, you were going to let me go up there. Okay, cool, thanks.”

Smith also spoke in a confessional, sharing he knew how happy the news would make Tammy. He shared, “I know this is something that she’s wanted for a really long time. It’s not the end of her journey by any means. But it’s kind of that final thing of a reward that I’ve done all this hard work and now I can have this battle scar removed from me.”
Offering some levity, Smith suggested that Tammy play a joke on her family. Seemingly preparing them for the worst, he told her brother Chris Combs, “Hey, guys, take it easy on her. She’s really upset. OK? She’s really bummed out. Just take it easy on her, OK?
However, Tammy was too happy not to leave the office without smiling, sharing, “I got approved.” For his part, Combs shared, “I don’t know what the hell’s going on. Dr. Smith’s saying one thing, Tammy’s saying another, and neither one of them got a d— poker face that I’d bank on.”
On social media, Smith also praised Tammy for her weight loss. As he shared, “I’ve watched @queentammy86 fight hard for her health and her future. 500+ pounds lost, but what she’s gained—confidence, freedom, and joy—is even greater. Her journey continues on a new season of #1000lbSisters tomorrow at 9/8c.” For her part, Tammy also reshared the post.
