Amy Duggar King Shares Update on Husband Dillon King Amid Health Condition

Amy Duggar King is counting on quality time with her family after her husband’s health scare.

Six months after sharing that her husband Dillon King was experiencing “life-threatening medical concerns,” the Counting On alum offered a positive update on his well-being.

“Dillon’s doing so much better,” Amy told E! News in an exclusive interview ahead of the release of her memoir Holy Disruptor: Shattering the Shiny Facade by Getting Louder With the Truth. “We went to the doctor several times, a couple of ER trips that were kind of scary.”

“He thought he was having a heart attack,” she continued, “but it turned out that it was a [diaphragmatic] hernia—which is, in layman’s terms, a 4×4 hole in your chest cavity.”

In addition to the rare condition, Amy—the niece of Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar—revealed that Dillon, 37, was diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder Celiac disease, leading to a major change in his diet.

“Gluten is out,” she said. “The pantry is cleared, and he has his own little special section now.”

But on the bright side, Amy noted that Dillon’s diagnosis has allowed him to get “back to playing golf and being the great husband that he is.”

And amid Dillon’s health struggles, the 39-year-old also credited their son Daxton, 5, for being a light for their family.

“He was like, ‘Daddy, I’m praying for you!’” she recalled. “They found ways to hang out even if it wasn’t like usual.”

Back in April, Amy had a much more uncertain outlook as she shared Dillon’s medical situation, turning to her followers—and her faith—for support.

“Today I’d like to ask for some prayers on his behalf,” she said in an Instagram post at the time. “I know God has him, but we welcome the prayers!!”

Holy Disruptor: Shattering the Shiny Facade by Getting Louder With the Truth hits bookshelves Oct. 14. Until then, keep reading for a closer look at the Duggar family tree.
