Jana Duggar Expecting First Baby with Husband Stephen Wissmann One Year After Their Wedding
Jana Duggar is stepping into a brand-new chapter of life: motherhood. The 19 Kids and Counting alum and her husband, Stephen Wissmann, announced that they are expecting their first child together.
The couple shared the happy news on Instagram with a series of photos from an outdoor maternity shoot. Wissmann was seen kissing his wife and cradling her baby bump while Jana, dressed in a flowing green gown, smiled with joy.
“We are so excited, January 2026 is going to come with a little bundle of joy joining our family!” the caption read. “We’re counting down the days and eagerly looking forward to this thrilling new chapter in our lives!”
Jana’s younger sister Jill Duggar was quick to share her excitement, commenting on the post, “So excited for y’all! ❤️.”
The joyful news comes nearly a year after Jana and Stephen tied the knot in August 2024. Their “classic, elegant” wedding took place at The Grand at Willow Springs in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, with 500 guests in attendance. Jana walked down the aisle with her father, Jim Bob Duggar, to the hymn “Holy, Holy, Holy,” wearing an off-the-shoulder ivory satin ballgown.
Several of her sisters played key roles in the celebration. Jessa Duggar Seewald stood beside her as matron of honor, while sisters Jinger Duggar Vuolo, Joy-Anna Forsyth, Johannah Duggar, and Jordyn-Grace Duggar joined as bridesmaids. Her sister-in-law Abbie Duggar was also part of the bridal party. Jill attended the ceremony, though she was not in the wedding party.
Looking back at her wedding day, Jana admitted she once thought marriage might not be in her future. Just before the ceremony, she told PEOPLE, “I think it is one of those things that all girls envision someday. For me, it felt like, ‘Okay, it’s never coming.’ But now it’s starting to sink in. Reality is starting to set in. And I’m like, ‘Wow, this truly is something that I’ve dreamed of.’ And just to see it coming about is incredible and kind of hard to believe. It’s a dream come true.”
Jana also opened up about her journey toward love with Stephen. “I had been a slower mover on it, but just over time, his character, his coming back, still loving me no matter what,” she explained. “I know we have a big crazy family and still kind of putting up with a lot of things. I’m like, my goodness, there are not too many people that do that. He must really, genuinely care about me.”
She added, “It takes me a bit to open up, but I think just his continuing to be there, no matter what, through ups and downs. He’s been a good friend over the years and has not pressured me in a lot of ways.”
Now, the couple is looking forward to parenthood. Stephen, 32, is a businessman, private pilot, and musician who also grew up in a large family with 13 children. Jana, 35, is the eldest daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who famously raised 19 children. Interestingly, the couple’s families were already connected—her brother Jeremiah is married to Stephen’s sister, Hannah.
From the excitement of their engagement in June 2024, to their wedding that August, and now the announcement of their first child, it’s clear Jana and Stephen are embracing each new step with faith and gratitude.
As the couple counts down the months until January, family, friends, and fans alike are celebrating with them. What once felt like a far-off dream for Jana has become reality: marriage, love, and now, the gift of new life.
