Jill Duggar Shares Moving Tribute to Late Daughter on What Would’ve Been Her First Birthday
Jill Duggar is remembering her late daughter.\
The 19 Kids and Counting alum shared a moving tribute to Isla Marie Dillard, who died in utero when Jill was fourth months pregnant in April 2024, on what would’ve been her first birthday.
“This August marks what should have been a time of celebration,” the 33-year-old wrote on a video posted to Instagram Aug. 25. “We should have been celebrating her 1st birthday in style with a smash cake and all things pink.”
Jill continued, “But instead, we changed out her pink grave flowers for some new ones and took a walk around the cemetery with the boys and thought about how she would be toddling along with the big bros and be so loved (and picked on too of course [smile emoji].”
As seen in the slideshow she posted, Jill was joined at the cemetery by her husband Derick Dillard and their sons Frederick, 3, Samuel, 8, and Israel, 10.
“I’m forever grateful for the opportunity we had to carry our sweet girl for 4 short months,” she added. “In honor of Isla Marie, see helpful support info in my description below!”
In the caption of her post, the Counting On alum added that she and Derick still haven’t gotten a clear answer on why they lost Isla, before sharing resources and statistics for those dealing with losing a baby.
“We don’t know exactly what caused the loss,” she explained, “but after lots of testing, they concluded that the most likely cause was a fluke subchorionic hematoma/hemorrhage that wasn’t detected until later, so nothing likely would have changed things.”
Jill previously commemorated her late daughter to mark one year since they found out that they’d lost her.
“On this morning one year ago, we were prepping for our daughter’s delivery after finding out just days before that she had went on to join Jesus in heaven,” she wrote on Instagram in March. “Derick’s mom was caring for our boys and my mom drove us to the hospital where a couple of my sisters and a friend joined us.”
Jinger Vuolo/Instagram“We are so grateful for all those not pictured who wrapped their arms and prayers around us,” she added, “and continue to provide us with support as we walk this road nobody ever wants to walk.”
