Jinger Duggar Reunites With Beloved ’19 Kids and Counting’ & ‘Counting On’ Crew Member
Jinger Duggar reunited with a beloved TLC crew member, Jim Goodwin, aka “Jim the Sound Guy,” from 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On.
On Wednesday, Oct. 15, Goodwin was a featured guest on Jinger and her husband Jeremy Vuolo‘s self-titled podcast.
During the sit-down, Jinger and Jeremy chatted with Jim and his wife, Michelle, about filming the TLC shows and how the sound guy has remained close with the Duggar family years afterward.
“I remember just being like, you’d almost forget it was one,” Jinger recalled of being mic’ed-up for the reality TV shows. “And then you’d be like, ‘Oh no, this is hot mic. What did I just say? And it might have been something fine, or it could have been something really embarrassing.”
To that, Jim explained, “It’s always on, but it’s not always recording. I’m usually listening. You hear a fair amount of gossip and commentary that perhaps should not be made public.”
“You guys are like family to us,” Jinger said. “It’s fascinating how you all are professionals and at the same time, you were in our world so much as kids…You guys were there for the major life events.”
She continued, “There’s something so special about the crew because you guys didn’t choose to show up, you were hired on. You didn’t know what you were getting yourself into. There was a lot of ups and downs. It wasn’t all easy, I’m sure, for you. But at the same time, at the end of the day, I look at you guys as family.”
Jim agreed with Jinger’s sentiment, sharing more about his 10 years of working on sound for the Duggars’ TLC shows.
“I worked on a lot of shows. And a lot of participants in those shows were one way on camera and another way off camera,” he said. “They were, you know, acceptable on camera. And off-camera, they were perhaps not so pleasant.”
Jim then declared, “You guys—your whole family, no exception—were completely genuine. What you saw was the way you were all the time. And that really spoke to me as the kind of people you were.”
In the comments, fans were delighted by seeing Jinger reunited with Jim the Sound Guy.
One wrote, “He was always so sweet on the show, and you all talked so fondly of him but we hardly ever heard from him!!!!! Yay!!!”
Another YouTube user declared, “YES finally we get to hear from Mr Jim ❤️❤️❤️ much love to you and your wife.”
“19 Kids and Counting” premiered on TLC in 2008 and was canceled in 2015 following the scandal that Josh Duggar, the eldest son of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, had inappropriately touched several of his sisters when they were young teenagers.
Its spinoff, Counting On, premiered later that year. The network canceled Counting On in 2021, following 11 seasons, after another of Josh’s scandals involving child sexual abuse material (CSAM). He is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence.
