Jinger Duggar Shares What She’s Debating After Welcoming Baby Finn
Jinger Duggar shared she’s contemplating switching her 5-month-old baby Finn from breastfeeding to formula due to him developing a dairy allergy.
Jinger Duggar has plenty of experience raising newborns but she’s entering new territory with baby no. 3.
While she nursed her daughters Felicity, 6 and Evangeline, 4, there’s been a hiccup in trying to do the same for her third baby Finn, 5 months, leading her explore other possible options.
“He is having an allergy, apparently,” the 31-year-old said during the Aug. 27 episode of her and husband Jeremy Vuolo’s The Jinger & Jeremy Podcast, “to dairy and soy.”
And nursing Finn would require Jinger to remove some staples from her own diet.
“I was just talking to the pediatrician,” the 19 Kids and Counting alum explained, “and she was like, ‘You could either cut out dairy and soy, or you can just put him on formula.’”
While she’s had hoped to nurse her baby boy a bit longer, Jinger has realized that making the switch might be a more realistic option, especially while balancing being a mom of three.
“I’m not feeling like I’m gonna be able to do the whole cutting out all the things to see if it works. So I might just do the formula, which is hard for me,” she explained. “I’m at the point where I just don’t know if I mentally can go back to that place of, like, cutting out everything in my diet.”
Plus, she noted that her “strong boy” whom she referred to as “the biggest guy ever” has already reached the 5-month milestone, so she feels content with the time she did have.
“He is a big boy,” she emphasized. “And so that’s the side of it where I’m like, ‘OK, we’re doing great.’ [The pediatrician’s] like, ‘This is a great time. If you decide to go that route, go for it.’ So we’ll see.”
Jinger Duggar/InstagramThe Counting On star first shared Finn’s arrival back in March when detailing her and Jeremy’s first days as a family of five.
“Baby’s doing great. I’m feeling exhausted but otherwise, it was a pretty fairly great delivery,” Jinger said in a YouTube video posted March 30. “I’m just so thankful to God that we have this healthy baby boy here with us.”
